Day One: MOSHI - 900 m TO UMBWE CAVES - 2850 m Driven through Lyamungo villager's cofee plantation, emerging at the Umbwe Gate - 1,650 m, 10 km, 1-1.30 hrs drive (rough road) Register, then start hiking through the rain forest for 5/6 hrs, arriving for dinner and overnight. UMBWE CAVE CAMP - 2,850 m Day Two: UMBWE CAVES TO BARANCO CAMP - 3,950 m After breakfast the trek continues through thick rain forests across the heather zone to Baranco campsite - 3,950 m, 7km, 4/5hrs hike. Dinner and overnight at the campsite. BARANCO CAMP - 3,950 m Day Three: BARANCO TO KARANGA VALLEY CAMP - 4,000 m Breakfast; continue by crossing a steep rocky ridge known as Baranco wall, continue hiking up and down hills until you arrive at karanga valley, near the karanga river for dinner and overnight. KARANGA V CAMP - 4,000 m Day Four: KARANGA TO BARAFU CAMP - 4,600 m Breakfast: then continue with the ups and downs to Mweka route junction. Climb along the steep slopes of the alpine desert to Barafu campsite, 4,600 m, taking about 4 hrs hike. Dinner and overnight … BARAFU CAMP. 4,600 m. Day Five: BARAFU CAMP 12:30 HRS TO UHURU PEAK - 5,896 m As the other routes you'll take a hot cup of tea, coffee or hot chocolate,then get started with your flash light on your forehead,water flask and your walking stike, camera etc, for the final attempt to the summit. After 5/6 hrs hike you'll reach STELLA POINT, 5,700 M, take a good deep breath, then continue further for 1-11/2 hrs to Uhuru Peak - 5,895 m,celebrations on the peak depends on the weather, photograph and then descend, to Barafu for your “Branch” then proceed to mweka camp - 3,100 m for your last dinner and night up the mountain. MWEKA CAMPSITE - 3,100 m Day Six: MWEKA CAMP TO MOSHI - 890 m Breakfast, then descent through the rainforest to mweka Gate -1800 m. Receive you certificate of achievement, then get driven to Lengai base camp/lodge for your most needed hot shower dinner and a comfortable bed. BASE CAMP - 890 m |
