Majority of the Climbers uses this route. The round trip takes five days from the Starting point at Marangu Gate. These exclude the prior arrangement day.
Day One: Marangu Gate 1800m to Mandara Hut 2750m
- Gate formalities, which in most cases take 45 minutes.
- Meeting your porters who will assist in achieving your goal.
- Starting a 9-km trekking to Mandara Hut.
Day Two: Mandara Hut 2700m to Horombo Hut 3780m
- Breakfast at Mandara Hut
- Ascending through rolling alpine meadows while enjoying the flora and view of Kibo na Mawenzi!
- Lunch on the way.
- Finally at Horombo Hut 3780m where you'll have your dinner and pass the night waiting for new day.
- For acclimatization you might to stay here but at additional cost of extra day.
Day Three: Horombo Hut 3780m to Kibo Hut 4700m
- It is morning of the new day at Horombo Hut.
- It takes 5 - 6 hours reaching at the Kibo Hut after walking a distance of 12 kms across cactus like ground, passing the the last water stream, and walking between Kibo and Mawenzi saddle on the lunar landscape.
Day Four: Kibo Hut 4700m to the Summit 5895m.
- In order to reach the Gillman's Point 5680m before down, an early start of the journey continues in early hours of the morning.
- A witness of the most spectacular and unforgettable sunrise at the Gillman's Point.
- From Gillman's Point, an hour walk is the Uhuru Peak 5895m, the Roof of Afrika.
- Descending to Horombo Hut 3780m where you will spent your night.
Day Five: Horombo 2750m. To Marangu Gate 1800m.
- A half-leisurely day walks.
- Arriving at the Gate entrance.
- A word of Fare Well to your Guide and Porters who from the angle of their eyes you will realise you have been part of them and not just left a print on them.
- Meeting with our representative for your way back to your Hotel.
