LOCATION: Located in the centre of the park, on an elevated point over looking the vast plains of Katisunga, Katuma Bush Lodge consists of spacious and comfortably furnished tents, each with writing desks, lamps, fine linen and en-suite facilities offering hot and cold water. The lodge has been designed to blend in with its surroundings to avoid distracting from the beauty of Katavi, and herds of animals can be seen right from your tent.
ROOMS & DESCRIPTION: The camp consists of ten spacious tents, where every minor detail has been addressed to ensure comfort and luxury – from sumptuous linens to international cuisine, blending in with the natural surroundings to uphold the spirit of Katavi.
Meals are a sumptuous affair, and a variety of dishes are accompanied with tropical fruits and juices. On the last evening of your stay, a barbecue will be served under the shade of tamarind trees, so you can reflect on the unforgettable experiences you’ve had at Katavi while watching the sun setting over the plains.
THE TENTS: All our tents are made from heavy-duty canvas material with ample space to relax and walk around. They are well ventilated with zip down gauze windows and roll up flap doors. The tents have been placed meticulously to enhance the view. The décor is of a precise selection to engulf you in the African Safari atmosphere. Each unit contains single or double wooden beds fitted with firm mattresses and mosquito protection.
OTHER FACILITIES & SERVICES: Game Viewing is exceptionally rewarding at Katavi due to the sheer abundance of wildlife, and we tend to begin game viewing early in the morning and late in the afternoon. Game drives in our 4 X 4 vehicles centre around the woodland areas along the seasonal lakes, where most of the game can be found including the big cats. We also offer short guided walking safaris leaving in the late afternoon when the light is at its best.
For those who want to get even closer to nature, we also offer fly camping – sleeping in the bush with just a mosquito net between you and the stars. With more than 4,000 sq km to explore, fly camping means that you can discover even the most remote and distant areas of this stunning park.
