CHADA KATAVI

LOCATION: The heart of the Katavi National Park, Western Tanzania. Chada Katavi is situated in the core of Katavi National Park, said to be one of Africa’s best wildlife experiences. Filling the floor of the Rukwa Valley - a minor fault of the western great rift - the park spans over a million acres.

From the blue escarpments, rivers run down through Tamarind, Fig and Albida forests to feed large floodplains. Studies have revealed greater mammal concentrations here than any other park in Tanzania with huge herds of buffalo (supporting plenty of carnivores) and masses of hippopotamus.

ROOMS & DESCRIPTION: Traditional East African seasonal safari tents  6 large canvas walk-in safari tents with 2 twin beds or a double bed  Private bathroom with safari loos and bucket showers.  Chada Katavi is a stylish, classy and comfortable camp idyllically placed under large shady acacia and tamarind trees on the edge of the twenty-mile wide Chada flood plain, it accommodates twelve people in large walk in tents.

The tents are large romantic and airy, the bathrooms bush-deluxe. The thoroughly good white wine sitting on your porch table is perfectly chilled. Private bathrooms set at the rear of each tent. Long drop safari toilets and traditional safari style ‘bucket showers’ give this camp a genuine ‘campaign-style’ safari feel.

RESTAURANT AND BAR:
Come dinnertime, the mess is nothing short of splendid, silverware gleaming and glasses shining. Hidden in the trees that flank it are six guest tents, with crisp white Egyptian cottons on the bed, and thick rugs on the floor.

OTHER FACILITIES & SERVICES: The best areas for game walking are outside the National Parks, on group owned or private ranches and conservation areas. Try Rekero on the edge of the Masai Mara, or Loisaba in the North of Kenya. Bird Watching:  East Africa has an unparallelled diversity of birds. From Arabuko-Sokoke Forest to the Serengeti; you won't be disappointed.
